 How to Create a Watermark

 1. Open a new image 300x300, transparent background with 16 million colors.

 2. Set your forground color to null and your background color to a shade of grey -
I have used #808080.

 3. Select the text tool and check that your text tool options are set to the below,
if not change them to match.

* Floating
* Antialias ticked
* Auto Kern ticked

You can use any font and size you like.

 4. Click your text tool text tool in the center of your blank image canvas.

 5. In the Text Box enter your chosen watermark text. This is the text that will
appear as your watermark.

If you would like the © copyright symbol here's how.
* Hold down the Alt key on your keyboard while you type +0169
(use the numeric keypad to type the numbers).

 6. When you have your watermark text typed the way you like it click the ok button.

Your text should now appear on your image with the selection marquee
around your text letters (marching ants). Be sure to leave
your text selected at this point.

 7. Click on Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel and apply the 2nd round
bevel type to your selected text with the following settings:

* width=2
* smoothness=100
* depth=15
* ambience=0
* shininess=20
* light color=white
* angle=315
* intensity=50
* elevation=30

 8. Next with your text still selected, click on Effects, 3D Effects,
Drop Shadow. Apply a drop shadow using the following setting.

* Set the vertical offset to -1
* horizontal offset to -1
* opacity to 90
* blur to 4.9

 9. Deselect your text from Selections, Select None.

10. Go to Layers > Properties and apply the following settings:

* Blend Mode = Hard Light
* Opacity = 20

If you would like your watermark to be darker (more noticeable)
adjust the Opacity to 50.

11. Now we'll turn the image into a tube to be able to insert it easily
into other graphics. So using your cropping tool,
block the area to be used. Then just double click the image.

 12. File, Export, Picture Tube

 13. Give your tube the appropriate name and then click ok

That's it your new watermark is now ready to be inserted into
new graphics that you create.

TIPS & TRICKS FOR PAINTSHOP PRO

Resetting PSP to default.
Resetting PSP to default (deleting PSP's registry) can fix many problems within PSP, errors caused by a corrupt registry missing or greyed out tools and other irregularities.
The big draw back from resetting is the loss of custom settings you have made and having to redo the preferences. To delete and re-write PSP's registry (reset defaults) do the following:
Go to START/PROGRAMS/Jasc Software Inc/ PAINT SHOP PRO 7. Immediately after you click on the PAINT SHOP PRO 7 icon press and hold CTRL+ALT on your keyboard.
Paint Shop Pro will ask you if you would like to delete the registry settings for Paint Shop Pro. Select YES.
When Paint Shop Pro opens it will have all the restored features of initial i! nsta! llation.

Freeing space in the PSP Program Folder.
When you applied the PSP Patch 7.02 , Version 7.02 created a backup of version 7 in a folder called Unpatch ( C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Unpatch folder)
The same would apply if you installed the 7.04 patch, a back up of 7.02 would have been created. If you have ran PSP patched versions with no problem then it is unnecessary to keep this folder on your hard drive.
You can copy it to a cd for safe keeping if you like and delete the Unpatch folder, reclaiming up to 62 mgb of disk space.

Freeing memory
Lower the "undo" storage for files
File/Preferences/General Program Preferences, hit the Undo tab and set the undo storage to 15 MB.
If you are working with large graphics and use the undo frequently you may need to set it to 40mgb.

Browser Caches
PSP creates a browser cache when using the browse function in PSP. This enables faster lo! ading ! of graphics. However if graphics are moved around, stored else where or deleted the browser cache remains the same size and can get very large taking up valuable space. It is advisable to delete them frequently to allow a build of a fresh cache in your files. To do this go to Find files and type in "jbf" without the quotation marks. You will see all the pspbrwse icons appear. Select them all and press delete on your keyboard. The next time you browse in PSP new caches will be built.

Autosave
When PSP crashes or freezes for some reason and you haven't saved your work, you can lose everything,
Go to File > Preferences > Autosave settings.
This will open the Autosave Settings dialogue box, Tick the 'Enable Autosave' box. Set the time schedule you require, 5 minutes should be sufficient. Click OK. Autosave is now enabled and your work will automatically be saved to the temp file every 5 minutes. If PSP crashes you can re-open and your work will be loaded as before.

Save Worktop
When you save ! your wor! kspace, you will be saving settings for your toolbar, palettes, also settings for your rulers and grids plus image information including image position in your workspace etc., so that you can return to your project at a later time.
Go To >File > Workspace > Save. The standard "Save as" dialogue box will appear. It will ask you for a file location you wish to save your workspace to. Workspace will be saved in a ..wsp format, so you need to give it a name eg: project2.wsp.
Next time you open PSP go to File > Workspace > Load. The workspace will remember the locations of your graphics so it is important that you do not move them after saving the workspace.

Tools greyed out
The majority of tools will only function on a image with a colour depth of 16.7 million colours (24 bit). To restore your image to 24 bit, Go to Colours > Increase Colour Depth > 16 Million. Now all of your tools should be active except the tools that req! uire a sel! ection.

Using Fonts in PSP
Having too ma ny fonts ins talled on your system can cause PSP to load slower, as it has to load all the fonts. PSP can use any font that is not installed. Open the font file you wish to use, by double clicking on the font icon, and minimize it on your desktop. That font will now show up in the font list in the 'Text' dialogue box.

Screen Shots
If you want to make a screen shot of your work or tools in PSP, or anywhere else on your computer. Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard, right click on your PSP workspace and "Paste as new image" you can then crop your screen shot down to size and use.

Previous File Formats
PSP, by default will want to save all your new images as .psp files, which can be annoying when working mostly with jpg's To avoid this, open the General Program Preferences, hit the Dialogues and Palettes Tab, check the box "Remember last type used in file save-as dialogue".

Floating tool bars/palettes
While working ! on a project! particularly when lasooing an image, the tool palettes tend to get in the way. Just press the tab key on your keyboard to make them disappear and press the tab key once more to make them reappear.

Crop Tool
Make your selection on the graphic, and double click outside your selected area still on the graphic and your picture will crop automatically
Always use the crop tool and not the selection tool to "cut" an image for a clean outline. The selection too tends to leave and edge of white pixels (unless using for a seamless selection)

Sharpen Option
When making a graphic smaller, got to effects > sharpen once, this will bring back the clarity of the pixels that are lost when shrinking the graphic.

Applying Shadow
While the image that you are applying shadow to is surrounded by the selection go to Selections > Modify > Contract and contract by 1 pixel this will prevent a ragged white appearance arou! nd the graphi! c after shadow has been applied.

PSP Colour Palette
F or those of you who like to have a range of colours and the hexadecimal value for stationery etc. Got to File > Program Preferences > Make sure the hexadecimal preference box is ticked and untick " use standard Windows colour picker". This will give you a slider bar choices on hues/sat/light and red/blue/green along with other useful information in the colour dialogue box. Which will enable you a far greater range in colours.

Colour Option Effect
This is a very little used option in PSP that enhances the colours of graphics. Effects > Enhance Photo > Automatic Colour Balance.
A nice little tool that allows you to make the colours look warmer or cooler. I find it invaluable.
Likewise the option of Effects > Enhance Photo > Clarify enhances and clarifies the colours.
The effects that are under the tools of "Enhance Photo" are very useful effects and are not restricted to Photo's. Try them out on your graphics.

Making Mist Tubes
Tutorial

By: RainbowCoffi
********

Please feel free to share my tutorials anywhere...
The above tag has two mist tubes on it, the kitty and the roses.
I have written three tutorials on Mist tubing, this one
is a combination of them and what I have learned from
Mist tubing and some of the benefits that I use
simply from this technique...This is sooo easy to do...
Mist tubes have an outer-spreading lightened edge  look.
You still see the image, but it eventually disappears into the color
of the background or graphic, that it is on.

Mist tubing the edge of
an unfinished graphic to get a smoother look works well too.
Cropping  a  selected mist outline also
can be the finishing edge of a tag, like the above tag.
See Hints below....
Most regular tubes are done with the
Freehand tool and the feather set at 0 to 2 and antialias checked...
Mist tubes are set at a much higher feather number on
the Freehand tool to achieve a feathery misty look.
Since roses are my favorite things to mist tube ,
I chose a rose graphic for the tutorial.
************

Step 1
Pull up a graphic or use the one included with this tutorial...
Using the Guide box below. ..Go to the Freehand Tool and
right click it for the tool box, click toolbox and when the box comes up, set it like below or at a high feather number you would like to try first. Move the box aside...
If your graphic is
smaller than 7"by 7" set the feather at: 25
any higher ,and the whole tube gets very light when cut and pasted, which can be a useful thing to use too later for something else..
Experimenting with the feather number gives different results ...
Most of the time
I set the feather at 39 or up to 49 on most graphics sizes.
You can also mist parts of tubes for tags too.

Step 2
Using the Freehand tool, outline the flowers.
You do not have to be precise,
the outline looks like below on the left, until you double-click the mouse. Then it swells like on the right below.

Step 3
...go to Edit..Cut...Paste As...A new Image

Above is what your original graphic looks
like after you cut and paste..close this
graphic now and
do not save the changes...
Below on the left is what your Mist rose tube should look like.
Save it by going to File.Export...as a Picture tube
Give it a name and click okay.
On the right below is the same tube, but merged to show you how it looks...

Thats all there is to it...Ü
***************
*******************************
HINTS

Making the color edges like the graphic above with the kitty.
Before doing this step, Make a duplicate of your tube,
then close the original, and clicking on the duplicate,go to
Image...Merge all
Once again I used the mist tube technique, but this time,
I used the
Selection tool set at the settings below.

As you can see it looks like a regular tubing on the below left and when you double-click it swells again..

Use the color picker or select a color from
the color bar for the bottom color box. See Below..
I chose lite Pink.

Next go to ... Image.. Crop to Selection
and you have the edge like below. The higher the feather setting on the toolbox , the more the pink color feathers in from the edge.

****************************************************

Small graphics...
Small graphics can be mist tubed also...
Just pull up the graphic...Make a duplicate..
and with the duplicate, go to
Image ...Resize . and set the number for 200..click ok.
Then go and mist tube it...when you are done...go back to Image..resize it back to 50, sharpen if necessary. Cut and paste as a New Image and go to File and save as a tube or .psp
Happy Misting...Ü. ....Victoria

OK....Now if you have Upgraded or used the FULL Install of the Incredimail
program
and LOST all of your Stylebox images, letters, music, etc....You can
still get them back IF you haven't Formatted Hard drive.

Just follow along with me and we will find all of your
Supposedly "lost" Stylebox contents!  Yippee!!!!!

I will be listing the FILE EXTENSIONS for ALL of the Stylebox
Contents
in Incredimail below.

All you have to do is to Find them and Install them to your
Stylebox again....That's It!!

Here we go.....
First you will need to make sure  to "Un-Hide" your
"Hidden Files and Folders" .  Follow along with the Directions below...

Q: How do I locate my 'Local Settings' folder?

A:
The 'Local Settings' folder is a hidden folder, which contains information about your Windows
User Profile and your IncrediMail installation and is usually located under the:
Start\ My Computer\ C:\Documents and Settings\Your Logon Name (usually your name)' folder.

If you are unable to locate the
'Local Settings' folder in the above location, please do the following:
  1. Double-click the 'My Computer' icon on your Desktop.
  2. At this point, the 'My Computer' explorer window opens. Click the 'Tools'
    menu and select
    'Folder Options...'.
    Select the
    'View' tab and select the 'Show hidden files and folders' option in the

    'Hidden files and folders' section.
  3. Browse to the following location:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Your Logon Name (usually your name)

  4. Your 'Local Settings' folder is now visible.

    OK....Now that your "Local Settings" have been adjusted to reveal your
    "Hidden Files and Folders" lets go and FIND your Incredimail Stylebox Contents!

    You will NEED to Follow the Instructions below for EACH of the
    Incredimail File Extensions shown Below.

    First go to your Search box:
    Start> Search

    When the Search Box opens you need to have the following Selected:
    ALL FILES and FOLDERS

    Then click on the MORE ADVANCED OPTIONS and Select:
    Search System Folders
    Search Hidden Files and Folders
    Search SubFolders

    Under the TYPE OF FILE box Select:
    (All Files and Folders)

    In the Top Box it says All or Part of the Filename.
    You will enter EACH Incredimail File extension in this box ONE AT A TIME!

    Skip the Second box....just leave in empty.
    In the LOOK IN Box Select MY COMPUTER.

    After you have filled in the information as shown above select the SEARCH tab.

    Here is a Screenshot so you can "see" how it should look:

    Ok....let it run the Search and then you should get a list like this one below:
    Now you will have different files than the ones shown in my list below.

    Now all you have to do is to "Double Click" on EACH File shown
    And it will Self-Install for you since it has the Orange Envelope.
    You will "see' the Adding Content to Stylebox window.

    That's it!
    Now just do the Search for EACH Incredimail File Extension show below.

    Incredimail File Extensions:

    *.imc = Collections

    *.ims = Skins

    *.IMF = Stats or Letters

    *.ima = Package or Sets of Collections

    *.imw = Midi or Wav

    *.ime = Emoticons

    *.imi = Images

    *.imn = Notifiers
    .............................................................................

    I hope you have found this TUT to be very Informative and Helpful!
    Please feel free to Pass it around and share it with Others.
    All I ask is that you Do NOT claim it as your Own!
